Reports have emerged that 3 of the stars on Simon Cowell’s US X-Factor will not be back for the second season of the show.
Judges Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and host Steve Jones have been axed from the team!!
Abdul and Jones confirmed the rumours that they were asked not to return to Cowell’s show, which although regularly reached viewing figures of approximately 12m, was not nearly as successful as American Idol, or indeed as popular as the mercurial mogul thought it would be.
Pussycat Doll’s Nicole Scherzinger’s camp has however stated that the gorgeous brunette decided to leave the show in order to concentrate on her music, saying that the show took up far more of her time than she initially expected.
Jones’ exit will not come as a surprise; the former T4 presenter received a great deal of criticism over his performance, and rumours he wouldn’t be returning have been circulating for some time.
However Abdul’s exit will shock more than a few. Initially Cowell moved heaven and earth to convince her to join his show last year!
Initially brought into co-host with Jones, Scherzinger stepped into Cheryl Cole’s shoes on the panel, after the Geordie pop princess was sacked from the show last year.
This leaves just Cowell himself and record executive Antonio LA Reid remaining from the first season.
Who the axed judges’ replacements will be currently remains unknown, although Cowell is rumoured to be really keen on bringing Mariah Carey into the mix.
