How Long Would You Go Without Taking A Bath? How About 38 Years?

I’m one of those people who can’t go a day without taking a shower, and don’t even like going camping because of the lack of running water, but I know a few people who will leave it a day or two even though they have the luxury. Quite frankly, I think it’s a little gross, but they are nothing compared Kailash Singh, who has been dubbed the ‘world’s smelliest man’ after the story emerged that he hasn’t bathed in 38 years.

Kailash got married in 1974 and in a bid to give birth to a coveted son, he consulted a priest who told him that the way to do this was to never cut or wash his hair again. 38 years later, Kailash has 7 daughters and not a single son. He also has dreadlocks that are more than 6ft long and yeah they are kinda dirty! I wonder if that priest is still sniggering to himself about this one!

Despite the fact that he is now 66 and his wife is 60, he still won’t give up on his washing vow just in case he does get that precious son.

Kailash tends cattle for a living and resides in the hills near the city of Varanasi where temperatures often reach more than 40 degrees Celsius. So you can imagine how often this guy breaks a sweat!!

His wife and daughters say they can’t understand how he does it and his long-suffering misses says she has threatened him several times, but he still won’t take a goddamn shower! His wife must really love him, because if he was my husband, he would have been getting the divorce papers within the first few months!

Every evening, Kailash takes what he calls a “fire bath” which involves smoking marijuana, praying to the Hindu God Shiva, and dancing around a bonfire. He thinks that this cleanses his body and gets rid of the worst smells, but those within a 10 foot radius of him would strongly disagree!

Apparently Kailash does use water to wash his face and hands, but that’s where it ends.   All I can say is thank God he doesn’t live in my town or get on my bus!
