Only In Japan: World’s Shortest Escalator

Languishing in the basement of the More’s Department store in Kawasaki, Japan lies an incredible sight, it is…ahem, drum roll…The Guinness Book of Records certified (allegedly) world’s shortest escalator!

This itsy-bitsy escalator measures less than 3 feet tall, just 83 centimeters. The commentator in the video who alerts us to its remarkable existence tell us that it is “a thing of beauty and magnificence” and that he rode it “seven times and it was a glorious experience.”

Apparently discovering the location of the world’s shortest escalator has been something that the public have been thinking about for some time, because this video seems to be incredibly popular, going viral in the few days since it was posted to YouTube. Fascinating stuff my friends!
