World Burping Championship Contenders Love A Bit Of Soda!

Check out this footage from the World Burping Championship, where five contenders guzzled a gut full of soda before taking to the microphone to share their gassy announcement with the room!

The competition was won by Tim “Eater X” Janus, 35, who let out an ear-shattering, earth-moving, belly-rumbling belch that went on for a whopping 18 seconds!! Even my little brother would be impressed by that and he considers himself to be a bit of a pro! Janus consumed a staggering 2 gallons of Diet Coke and Mountain Dew to help him produce the winning burp….wow that’s a serious amount of soda!

Apparently soda was the tool of choice for all of the contenders in the first annual Burping World Championships that took place in New York on Friday. But Janus’ belch was by the far the most notable.

The excessive soda consumption that took place in this competition will no doubt draw attention to the proposed soda ban by Mayor Michael Bloomberg. As you can imagine, there are a lot of people who aren’t too pleased about their beloved beverage being outlawed!!

The competition was hosted by the ‘World Burping Federation’ who were formed in order to try and eliminate the embarrassment of public burping and stop it being such a taboo!

Federation member Dave Keating said, “The World Burping Federation is here to dispel the stigma of an essential, and some would say necessary function…We’re here to say that after a fantastic meal that one should be able to burp with enthusiasm and intensity — and be rewarded for that.”
