This awesome video shows the kind folks at the Amboseli Trust for Elephants engage in a dramatic rescue operation to save a baby elephant from a muddy Kenyan Well.
The elephant calf in this video was just 8 months old and was clearly distressed, luckily the Amboseli Trust for Elephants were able to use ropes to hoist the little creature out of the well and help him return to his loving mother.
Later that week, they were called to another rescue at the same spot, this time by a Maasai man who stood guard over the young baby elephant protecting him from some young boys who wanted to spear him.
The Amboseli trust was able to rescue this elephant calf too and managed to get him to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust orphanage in Nairobi. This calf was named Lemoyian after the man who had watched over him until the team from the Amboseli trust arrived. Details of Lemoyian’s story are on the Amboseli Trust’s website.
