Check out these vintage pics of early car wrecks that were collected by the Boston Public Library from the 1920s and 1930s. They really show just how far automobile safety has come in since the four wheeled transportation vehicles were first introduced!

They really do prove just how flimsy and fragile the earlier designs of motor vehicles were, some of these crashes don’t even look like they were that serious and yet the cars appear to have just fallen to pieces.

I think we owe the engineers who invented airbags, safety belts and crumple zones a big thank you!!
