Transformers 2 gets set in Steel
Who is a movie buff that didn’t absolutely love the destruction and massive robot battles in Michael Bay’s adaptation of the 1980’s cartoon, Transformers. If you aren’t one of the people who spent some of the 150 million dollars the movie made in its first week, I don’t know who you are. By the end of the first film, it became pretty obvious that we’d get a sequel.
If you’ve kept on top of the controversy and stories behind Transformers 2, then you’d have to keep up with a lot of gibberish, as well. Michael Bay has told reporters that he has intentionally had crew spit out fake information about the movie. So if any real information gets leaked, it will be mixed amongst so much crap that it would probably be thrown off as just another rumor. Pretty smart tactics from Michael, though.
A rumor that has been signed legit by the director himself is that Bethlehem Steel, located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania will be used as a set and backdrop for what is said to be an epic and pivotal part of the movie. The backdrop of the Bethlehem Steel’s tanks and building will fit in well, as well as stand out for anyone familiar with the area, leaving them something to be proud of.
A lot of changes will need to happen though. They want to change this little American towns steel factory into a full blown Chinese city, filled with Chinese residents. Anyone feeling they are Asian enough to be called Chinese is wanted, as they need extras to fill in the empty streets of what will become and Asian-Chinese city. They also hope they can find Asians with military experience. Something about them wanting militarily trained citizens tells me this will be an explosive battle scene.
I’m excited for when this film transforms into theaters in 2009.

Should be a great movie. Rumors are that it is being shot in Bethlehem, PA. But Bay has vowed to leak out false info in this movie so who knows what is true!
