Cinderella’s Castle In Tokyo Disneyland Plays Host To First Ever Wedding

Those of you who have always fantasized about having a fairytale wedding, will be pleased to hear that now your dreams can become a reality – as Tokyo’s Disneyland now offers the option for couples to tie the knot at the beautiful and extravagant Cinderella’s Castle.

We just hope your pockets are as deep as your imagination, because a wedding like this will set you back something in the region of $96,000 and that’s obviously not including a wedding dress or the attire for all your ugly sisters (oops sorry, I meant bridesmaids). That is with 50 guests, each extra guest you want to invite will set you back a further $575.

The first couple to take advantage of the chance to marry in this magical locale was Takayuki Abiko and his bride Mayumi Kagoshi who had their dream wedding on September 28th2012.

The “Disney Royal Dream Wedding” only started taking bookings at the beginning of September and yet they have already been inundated with requests. Abiko and Kagoshi were the lucky couple who got to be the first ones to marry there though and this brought with it a whole heap of media attention.

According to reports, the bride, wearing a tasteful dress arrived in a red and white wedding vehicle where she was awaited by her groom, dressed in “classic Disney Prince” attire. Also there to greet the fair lady was their 50 guests and a full brass band!

Many of the visitors at the park who caught a glimpse of the bride’s elaborate entrance were unsure whether they were watching some sort of Disney performance or an actual wedding – but they clapped and cheered the happy couple in any case. I’d say that catching sight of Abiko and Kagoshi’s fantastical wedding made more than a few men at the theme park on dates with their significant others go a little bit pale!

After being married in the decadent ballroom, the couple was then taken outside and treated to a “flower shower” and then they got to meet members of the Disney cast and other well-wishers.

Whilst the $96,000 price tag of the Disney Royal Dream Wedding might seem rather extortionate, weddings in Japan are usually exceptionally expensive, flamboyant affairs. Even so, getting married in Cinderella’s Castle is still quite a bit more expensive than the norm.

When asked why they chose to marry at Disneyland, the couple said that they had visited the park numerous times when they were dating and that Cinderella’s Castle was one of the favorite places. When they heard it had become available for weddings, they jumped at the chance. Abiko said: “My wife loves Cinderella…so it makes me very happy to be able to give her the wedding of her dreams.”

Ahhh, that’s so cute that I actually feel a little bit sick.
