For all you mobile suit fanatics who have a couple of million lying around in the bank, the Suidobashi Heavy Industries are now selling the Kuratas, a 13-foot monster of a suit that has a missile launcher that shoots water bottles and a gaitling gun that fires BB’s when the pilot smiles. Yeah, you read that right, in a slightly disturbing quirk, the gaitling guns will actually fire hundreds of rounds of BB’s when the Kinect-based sensor picks up that the pilot is smiling. Probably best not to go to any standup comedy shows in the Kuratas then…

The Kuratas was created by artist Kogoro Kurata and robotics wizard Wataru Yoshizaki and works via the robot operating system V-Sido. Its top speed is 10km an hour and it can be remotely operated through the 3G network, so really rich people could theoretically have armies of the things roaming around their grounds firing BB’s at unsuspecting trespassers!

This personal mecha is not quite the Iron Man suit and somehow we don’t think that Tony Stark is sitting in his mansion crapping his pants in case someone comes by in a Kuratas and challenges him to a dual, but it sure as hell would make Christmas shopping a little bit easier! It could also be quite an amusing gadget to pull out of the airing cupboard at house parties!
