It’s been quite a few years since anyone with any idea about modern technology has used a floppy disk, however, I bet that the hoarders amongst you probably still have dozens of them floating around the house gathering dust.

Well one Instructables contributor, who goes by the name of Technochippy has decided to find a use for them and designed this awesome floppy disk lampshade.

Technochippy used 17 floppy disks, 44 cable ties and some basic tools that the majority of us probably have hiding out in the cupboard under the stairs to make the lamp. One thing that anyone planning on making a Floppy Lampshade should remember though, is to use a fluorescent or LED lamp, unless you like the smell of burning plastic and visits from the fire brigade!
