Regular readers may well remember the article we featured on Buzz Patrol back in December about the Kickstarter project for ‘Tailly: the tail that wags when you get excited’. The Tailly has sensors in the belt that clips around the wearer that measure heart rate, which means it wags when you are excited and slows when you are calm!
Creator Shota Ishiwatari, who formerly worked for NeuroSky of “necomimi” (cat-ears that respond to your brain waves) fame, went out on his own and appealed to the crowdfunding platform in an attempt to get the funds he needed to mass-produce the Tailly.
He was unsuccessful, raising just over $12,000 of his $60,000 target, but determined not to let his invention fall by the wayside, Ishiwatari is trying crowdfunding once more, this time marketing his project on Indiegogo.
Ishiwatari has lowered his funding goal by $10,000 so it now sits at $50,000. So far the project has raised just over $3,000 but there is still 45 days to go.
For the Indiegogo project Ishiwatari has added a special edition pink cover for the tail and a fox cover, previously the covers were available in 4 colors; white, black, grey and brown.
“Tailly is not just a toy, nor is it a fashion accessory or a gadget. It is those three items combined, and, since it reacts to the heart beat rate, an extension of the users’ body.”
He believes that his creation would be great to wear at parties to let other guests know how you are feeling and that would also be fun to wear whilst hanging out with friends or entertaining young children. He also muses that Tailly could be worn whilst dating, “to express your true feelings through the wagging tail.” He reckons that this experience would be heightened if your date was also wearing a Tailly because it would “add a level of subconscious communication between the two of you.”
