What was the point of former presidential hopeful Senator John McCain’s tweet to Charles Barkley Monday?
Dear Charles Barkley, “don’t take it personally, you seem like a nice guy,” but you’re clueless – @MittRomney wins. Wanna bet?
— John McCain (@SenJohnMcCain) May 7, 2012
Does he somehow think calling out Barkley, a TNT analyst and former Pro Basketball superstar, on Twitter makes him hip somehow? Or is he just trying to be all mavericky again?
Apparently this is in response to comments made by Barkley when cameras focused on Romney during Sunday’s broadcast of a game of the Boston Celtics against the Atlanta Hawks, where Barkley said the following: “We’re going to beat you like a drum in November. Don’t take it personally. I like you. You seem like a nice guy, but you’re going down, bro.”
We already knew McCain was a betting man, after all, he bet using Sarah Palin as his running mate in 2008 wouldn’t hurt his chances for the presidency, and we all see how well that turned out…
Barkley has yet to respond, but if he does, I’m curious if McCain will put his money where is tweet is.

More on the controversy regarding the censorship of social media – this time from Dubai, where the Chief of Police, Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Tamim called upon the federal attorney general to take legal action against people who criticised the nation’s leaders and then insulted tweeters who defended them.
He is referring to the group the ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ who tweeted against the UAE and with whom Tamim has been embroiled in a bitter ongoing dispute with. He accuses them of trying to incite tension between the nation’s leaders and citizens and said;
“They belittle the symbols of the state and question the integrity of the judiciary… they want to stir the streets against us.”

Last week Buzz Patrol featured an article about Bolton Midfielder Fabrice Muamba, 23, who collapsed with a suspected cardiac arrest, during the FA Cup game between Tottenham Hotspurs and Bolton on Saturday 17th March.
He was treated by club doctors and paramedics on the scene, who gave him emergency CPR and several defibrillator shocks in attempt to get his heart working again.
The fact that his heart wasn’t working properly for so long and that he was ‘in effect dead’ for something around the 78 minute mark, inspired people to call him the ‘miracle man’.
Muamba is currently in a serious but stable condition at the London Chest Hospital.
Muamba’s condition has been closely followed by sports fans and well-wishers across the globe, but whilst the majority of people where praying for him to make a speedy recovery, a Welsh biology student from Pontypridd, Liam Stacy was instead posting racist tweets about Muamba from his account. So vile and distasteful were Stacy’s tweets that several Twitter users reported them. Continue Reading
In honor of Twitter’s 6th birthday, Jimmy Kimmel asked celebrities to read out loud Tweets about themselves for his Jimmy Kimmel Live TV Show on ABC.
Tweetdeck for Mac, Windows and Chrome has just recieved a new upgrade. The latest version of the popular Twitter client introduces some great new features and bug fixes.
Some new features are:
You can now create, edit and delete lists directly in the app

Two new columns are added, an Activity and Interactions column.
An Interaction column shows all of your mentions, and it alerts you when you have been followed, added to a list, retweeted or favourited.
An Activity column shows a real-time feed of all the follow, favourite and add-to-list actions performed by the accounts that you follow.

You will now see a small preview of images and videos under the related Tweet.

Tweetdeck took away the “Quote” retweet option, which I love and revert back to “Edit & RT @username,” which lets you edit the Tweet before sending.

Read more changes on the official Twitter blog.
