The Tumblr Media Avengers popped up a little over two months ago, and already has a huge fan following. This blog creates mock-magazine covers and articles that feature the characters of The Avengers as if they were being reported on. We see Time magazine covers featuring Bruce Banner and Steve Rogers, paparazzi shots of the superheroes walking around in everyday garb, gossip columns about Natasha and Clint’s relationships, featured interviews with Pepper Potts, tabloid pieces on Tony Stark, and the list goes on. These fake media coverages are just as innovative as they are fun. Thanks to the power of photoshop and photographs of the actors who play the Avengers cast, we’re allowed a brief into a life where the Avengers team is real. It’s nice to dream.Continue Reading

Yahoo! Acquires Tumblr For $1.1bn

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has announced the $1.1bn acquisition of Tumblr, in what is her biggest deal since she took the helm of the company in July of 2012. She described the deal as a “unique opportunity” but made a promise to loyal Tumblr users that she wouldn’t “screw it up” and that it would remain an independently operating company.

Tumblr CEO and co-founder David Karp, reiterated Mayer’s statement, assuring users in a blog post that they would not have to fear any changes. Continue Reading

The designer, who has not given his name, said the police failed to do much about his problem, despite the fact that the robbery took place in central London and the thief used his cards in several high end stores that now doubt are swarming with CCTV.

But the designer had Hidden App installed on his Macbook – that you may remember from the previously mentioned Tumblr Dom’s Laptop is in Iran. They take famous moments from well known films that involve characters holding guns, then they replace the guns with hands giving thumbs up signs. The result is surprisingly hilarious, and puts a whole new twist on the movies that the stills come from. Rob & Sam’s “Happy Fucking Valentines” Tumblr is a collaboration project with some of their friends and explores ideas about love and sex for the romantic realist or cynical singleton.

With beautiful childlike innocence Ruth describes her first encounter with music of the more subversive variety, CDs that she had to lie about her age to check out of the library, which as she states, is ok because “lying does not count at the library”!

The entry fantastically captures the way in which music can open our eyes to the world around us and clearly helps this young girl to tap into the huge punk lying dormant in her soul!

It’s not exactly a big secret that many comic book artists draw female superheroes and characters in exaggerated and hypersexual poses. Earlier in the year there was a lot of controversy over the pose that Catwoman was positioned in on her #0 issue cover of New 52 DC Universe.

However, it is such a commonplace trait within the artform that a lot of comic book fans barely even notice when female crime fighters are consistently contorted to accentuate their assets (and I’m not talking villain-bashing skills).
