Friends Post Video Of Buddy Watching Empire Strikes Back For The First Time

There are quite a few videos on the internet that showcase the brilliant reactions of younglings watching The Empire Strikes Back for the first time and discovering that the big bad Darth Vader is actually Luke’s father.

Strange Dutch TV Special Docu: Behind The Scenes Of The Empire Strikes Back

This documentary entitled “Making Empire” was a Dutch television special that aired in 1980 to promote The Empire Strikes Back. It was one of those that was short-lived and soon found its way into the popular culture vault and was quickly forgotten.

Thanks to YouTube though, Star Wars fans can take a peek at this interesting, if somewhat bizarre documentary.

I found the interview with director Irvin Kershner particularly interesting, as he elaborates on why he sees it more as a fairytale than a work of Science Fiction.

Those of you who cannot speak Dutch, need not fear, only the first 45 seconds of the clip are in Dutch and the rest is in English. Unfortunately however, the quality of the video isn’t great and you can only watch the first part of it, but it still makes some interesting viewing for Star Wars fanatics who can’t get enough of the behind-the-scenes stuff.

You can find more background on Making Empire here.
