In Case Of Fire Call NYC Street Artists Enzo & Nio

New York based street artists Enzo and Nio have been making quite a name for themselves recently, especially with their fake “Pull In Case of Emergency” box variations.
Their infamous red “emergency” boxes can be found all over New York and cater for all sorts of different problems – you’ve got “Pull In Case of Police”, “Shit”, “Facebook” and even one to help save you from “Mayor Bloomberg”, of whom they are clearly not fans!
They also have numerous other masterpieces and recurring themes throughout their works however and the little bomb emblazoned with their initials, features in the majority of their pieces appearing to be a critique on the violence that is prevalent in our society.
Vandalog has put Enzo and Nio in amongst their top 10 street artists to watch out for in 2012 and judging by some of their work, it’s not difficult to see why their installations are getting so much attention.
Iheartcoolstuff writer Saki caught up with Enzo and Nio not too long ago, she went around NYC with them while they put up some of their work. She said, “They don’t like discussing their work as it might lead to them affecting the way I interpret it, therefore; it is never discussed, they prefer it this way.”Continue Reading

The Strangely Alluring RockFace Paintings Of Andre Muniz Gonzaga

Check out these awesome works by Brazilian street artist Andre Muniz Gonzaga, who is well known for creating works of art in the most unusual of places. His rock portraits are amongst his most renowned collections and it is easy to see why. Gonzaga chooses his locations well, often picking urban areas that are poverty stricken or run down. They are the kind of places where you wouldn’t expect to see flamboyant art installations and Gonzaga’s anthropomorphic rockfaces clearly brighten up the area and bring with them a bit of magic and creativity.
Gonzaga cleverly uses the existing contours and structure of his real-life canvases to become the facial structures of his work; jutting edges become lips, a central ridge becomes a nose, slight indents become eyes.
It is really easy to see why Gonzaga’s rock portraits stand out and draw attention, they are fantastic examples of awesome street art. Continue Reading

Street Photographer Leaves Pictures Dotted Round City For Passersby To Take

Auckland, New Zealand-based street photographer Sim Ahmed has recently been involved in a fascinating project which has seen him turn his surroundings in a free art gallery of sorts. As part of the project intended to spread his love for the art of photography, Ahmed took photographs of various locations in his city and then printed out about 500 of them.
He put these prints – which cost him 9 cents each into small frames that he acquired cheaply from The Warehouse (like NZ’s version of Wal-Mart). Ahmed then puts the framed pictures up on buildings in the location where the photographers were shot with a short message encouraging passersby to pick them up and take them home. Each frame is signed and numbered. Continue Reading

The Amazing 3D Pavement Art Of Nikolaj Arndt

Walk along a rickety rope bridge, but be careful not to fall down. Or pet a wolf, deer, dolphin or killer whale…we don’t however suggest that you put your hands too close to the gaping mouth and gnashing teeth of the great white shark unless you fancy losing a digit!
Arndt’s chalk creations are fantastically detailed and really do jump to life in true 3D fashion. Continue Reading
