In a horrific attack that shocked the world, homeless man Ronald Poppo was attacked in broad daylight on Miami’s MacArthur Causeway by Rudy Eugene, who was naked and appeared to be high on some sort of hallucinogenic drug, savagely chewed the majority of his face off.

The brutal ‘zombie attack’ lasted nearly 18 minutes before Eugene was shot and killed by police officer, Jose Rivera. It was one in a number of vicious cannibalistic attacks that occurred within days of one another and have led to several tongue-in-cheek references to a possible ‘zombie apocalypse’!

Poppo was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital but the injuries to his face, the majority of which had been chewed off, were so severe that many feared that he would not survive the attack. His nose is missing, one of his eyes has been gouged out and the other damaged and he also had two ‘mysterious’ holes in his chest, which were possibly caused by the bullets shot by police to kill his attacker.
