Legendary sci-fi author Ray Bradbury, who wrote the groundbreaking novels Fahrenheit 451, The Illustrated Man and The Martian Chronicles as well as many other much-loved bestsellers, has passed away in LA Tuesday evening at the age of 91.

His death was reported by io9.com who said that they received confirmation from the renowned authors’ immediate family and from his biographer Sam Weller.

His grandson, Danny Karapetian gave io9.com an incredibly moving statement that brilliantly captures the essence of this prophetic author who had such an impact on the world.
