Quadrocopters Play Ball

A little while ago we were treated to the amazing sight of 50 quadrocopters illuminating the Linz night sky in an awesomely choreographed display of synchronicity now we’ve got this awesome footage of a couple of adorable little quadrocopters proving that they now have the skills to play ball!

If you were in any doubt about how amazing these mini-flying machines really are, then the quadrocopter team at ETH Zurich has produced this spectacular video that shows off their ball tossing and catching skills to convince you!

You can also see them learn from their mistakes (unfortunately a trait missing in many humans) as they miss the first couple of times that they shoot the ball towards the hoop but gradually adjust their positions to score! It really is a mad display of their skills.

Residents of Linz, Austria Treated to Record Breaking Quadrocopter Show

Residents of Linz in Austria were recently treated to the breathtaking sight of a record breaking show of 50 synchronized quadrocopters lighting up the night sky with their dazzling movements and spectacular colors.

The event was called “The Cloud in the Web” and had 50 AscTec Hummingbird quadrocopters using radio signals to communicate and put on the stunning show you can see in the video.

The quadrocopters were programmed by a team which included employees from Ars Electronica Futurelab and Ascending Technologies GmbH. It is believed that 50 quadrocopters that took part in the Linz event breaks the world record for the highest number of quadrocopters in sync at one time.

You’ve got to admit that it’s pretty impressive!

I wonder if anyone who didn’t know about the show taking place mistook the brightly colored flying orbs for UFOs and thought their town was in the midst of an alien invasion! Continue Reading
