These are not paintings but a series of photographs of Lake Retba in Senegal. Lake Retba (Lac Rose) north east of Dakar in Senegal has a very high salt content, very similar to that of The Dead Sea, which provides ideal conditions for the proliferation of Dunaliella salina – micro-algae, giving it its pink hue.
