This image clearly shows a giant penis drawn on planet’s surface and it appears on the NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory mission page. Redditor aggrazel spotted the phallic resemblance and drew the internet’s attention to the image.Continue Reading
The Desert Wizards of Mars have just 7 days to go to raise just over $1,500 to reach their $8,000 Kickstarter funding target for their Mars Rover Art Car project.
The project intends to create an art car replica of NASA’s Mars Rover Curiosity, which they hope will be one of the most technologically advanced art cars in the world, for educational fun and partying. NASA has confirmed the next launch date for SpaceX’s Dragon capsule to make another journey and deliver supplies to the ISS will take place on 1st March 2013.
The unmanned Dragon capsule will launch from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 10.10 am EST on March 1st and arrive at the orbiting lab approximately 24 hours later.
The flight will be California based firm SpaceX’s second contracted cargo mission to the station for NASA and their third overall. The Dragon went on its historic test flight in May of 2012 and successfully delivered supplies to the ISS in October 2012. Continue Reading

This disturbing video shows some of the damage done to buildings during the meteor blast that took place earlier this morning over the Chelyabinsk region near the Ural Mountains.
In one segment, two office workers are stood around casually having a laugh, probably slagging off their boss for all we know and then KABLAM, the windows get blown out causing them both to fall to their knees, before they get up and run out of the room.
After that, we cut to what looks like a warehouse which has its door blown open by the huge force of the blast.
Those people must have been terrified, one minute they are just chilling out at work, getting ready to switch their computers on and surf the net for cat videos and then the next minute all the windows have been blown out and the whole place is covered in shards of broken glass!
According to the latest reports, the number of those who sustained injuries as a result of the meteor that exploded in the Russian skies earlier today has risen to approximately 1,000 including 200 children.
The majority of those injuries were caused by cuts from glass as blast caused it to shatter in thousands of buildings located in the Chelyabinsk region of Russia, near the Ural Mountains.
Space.com, citing figures obtained from Russian Emergency Ministry said that nearly 300 buildings were damaged, including 12 schools and 6 hospitals. However CNN citing figures more recently obtained from state-run Russian news agency RIA Novosti, placed that figure substantially higher at 3,000. The news agency said 20,000 emergency response workers had been mobilized to respond to the meteor blast. Continue Reading
Today the huge asteroid named 2012 DA14 will soar past earth coming within 28,000km of our planet. Astronomers are saying that it is the closest approach an object of this size has made to earth but are claiming that we have nothing to worry about.
Because of the asteroid’s incredible speed, it will be extremely difficult to see with the naked eye, however amateur astronomers should be able to catch a glimpse of DA14 with a backyard telescope or binoculars. NASA uploaded this video entitled “Why The World Didn’t End Yesterday” on December 11, 2012, ten days before the predicted apocalypse was meant to take place. The video explains why it was improbable to assume the end of the world, and goes into the history of the Mayan’s research and science. It also manages to drop a ton of scientific head honcho names who’ve said that the notion of an apocalypse based on the Mayan’s work is ridiculous. But really, the description for this youtube video says it all:
NASA is so sure the world won’t come to an end on Dec. 21, 2012, that they already released a video for the day after.

It’s been quite an amazing year for NASA, the whole world tuned in when their state of the art rover, the Curiosity successfully landed on the Red planet and began broadcasting footage back to earth.
Now, following the hype surrounding Curiosity’s mission, the space agency announced at the meeting of the loik, that they planned on constructing another rover that would make her way to Mars in 2020.
The 2020 Mars mission rover will follow in Curiosity’s footsteps (or tire tracks if you prefer) and will be charged with continuing the search for Martian life on the planet, whether that be past or present. It is also another step in the long standing NASA goal to capture samples of Martian soil to bring back to earth for analysis. Continue Reading
Experts are predicting that it will not be long before NASA announces manned moon missions. Apparently the ambitious plans to set up a manned outpost on the moon’s far side were already cleared with the Obama administration but the space agency held off any official announcements incase Republican candidate Mitt Romney won the presidential election. Romney had previously announced that he planned to reassess and revise NASA’s missions and direction.
Now that Obama has been re-elected, those working on the project can breathe a sigh of relief. Back in 2010, Obama directed NASA to work towards sending astronauts to a near-earth asteroid by 2025 and then on towards Mars by the mid 2030s. In order to reach such deep-space destinations, NASA have been working on the development on a gigantic rocket called the Space Launch System (SLS) and create a new capsule called Orion.
