Sometimes caring for animals can be a thankless task that involves a serious level of dedication. Often we will have to do things that people who have never had their own pets or worked with animals will find absolutely impossible to fathom. Well if you think clearing cat vomit off the carpet or using a poop-a-scoop to clean up feces when your puppy decided to take a dump in your local park is the extent of it –then think again!

Wuhan Zoo’s Monkey caretaker Zhang Bangsheng, 50, spent over an hour licking the buttocks of a small Francois’ Leaf Monkey after the little creature was struck with an unfortunate bout of constipation.

Bangsheng realized that the toothless monkey had ingested whole peanuts which had been thoughtlessly given to him by Zoo visitors and that this was likely to be the cause of his problem.
After an hour of non-stop butt licking, the little monkey finally defecated and a single peanut popped out. Zhang Bangsheng was overjoyed that his method had worked successfully.

The monkey in question was just a few months old and it is an extremely rare breed. As ChinaSmack.com reported, it was the first Francois’ Leaf monkey to have been born at the park in nearly a decade. The Zoo specifically entrusted the care of the monkey to Zhang Bangsheng because he is very experienced and extremely dedicated…After reading about this feat, I don’t think anyone would argue with that…

Glad as I am that the little fellow is ok, writing this has made me feel just a little bit queasy. I think I’m going to have to strike zoo keeper off the list of things I want to be when I grow up!
