More weird and wacky sexual antics from those crazy insects, with this video capturing the rare site of a male peacock spider strutting his stuff to attract a lady friend. In some cultures, this would be referred to as ‘putting out the vibe’.

The male peacock spider is an odd looking creature indeed, slightly more amicable in appearance than the majority of those furry 8-legged beasts, but still not welcome in my bathroom. The male of the species has a brightly colored abdomen that is flipped up and used as a prop in a mating dance. This, ladies and gentlemen is arachnid-burlesque at its very best!

Apparently, the protagonist of the video is a representative of a yet to be named species of peacock spider, the video was put together by Jürgen C. Otto and David E. Hill who also wrote a paper about the differences of this particular specimen…I wonder if it’s because he’s the greatest dancer?
