A woman in Georgia was driving along, minding her own business, when she caught a glimpse of an object flying at her car. Because she didn’t actually hear a collision, she assumed she must have dodged that ghost bison or UFO that was hurtling straight for her and continued on her merry way. When she arrived home however, she realized what the phantom object flying at her car actually was – an iPad and it had become so firmly wedged in her car’s bumper that she needed to use a hammer to get the dang thing out!! Suzanne Nassie, who bought the dud, has every right to be annoyed – she didn’t pick up the device for a discounted price from a strange dude at a gas station like Arlington woman Jalonta Freeman, but purchased it at the WALMART in Brockton!

Tablet Wars: Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 Advert That Scoffs At iPad’s Price

In what will undoubtedly invoke some sort of backlash from Apple, Amazon has gone for the jugular in their latest advert for the Kindle Fire HD which openly mocks the iPad’s price.

The advert places both items side by side in a split screen as a narrator tells the viewer that they might “not be able to tell the difference” between the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 and the iPad, but their wallet will certainly be able to notice the distinction. The prices for both products are then displayed on either screen, with the iPad advertized at $499 and the Kindle, a much more affordable $299.

The chasm between the different prices of the two products is indeed quite sizeable, however many argue that the iPad is, overall a much better device and worth paying that little bit extra for. For people who have to balance their budgets however – the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 does look like an impressive product and may well end up stealing some of tablet market away from Apple.

Apple has released the iOS 6.1 update on Monday which includes a number of minor changes, the most notable being LTE compatibility.

iOS 6.1 brings LTE compatibility to 36 new iPhone carriers and 23 new iPad carriers in various locations around the world. This will allow users of the iPhone 5, the iPad Mini and the fourth generation iPad to access faster wireless speeds.

As well as the introduction of LTE compatibility, the update brings with it some changes to iTunes Match and Siri. Users of iOS 6 who were none too pleased when the option to download individual songs was removed, will be happy to hear that they are now enabled to do that again! Continue Reading

38-year-old, Louisville woman, Tracy Browning has been arrested after police claim that she attempted to buy multiple iPads with her Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card.

It has been alleged that Browning went up to cashier at the Valley Station Walmart in Kentucky and attempted to pay for the iPads using her food stamps card!

When the transaction was an epic fail, authorities claim that Browning assaulted a store employee and fled the scene with the iPads!

Obviously not content with the two iPads she had managed to pilfer from the Valley Station Walmart, Browning turned up at another Walmart and attempted once again to purchase iPads on the EBT card!! It will come as no surprise to you that Browning was apprehended at the second Walmart with authorities claiming she was attempting to flee this store with the merchandise too! The mind boggles! This short video filmed by some obviously disgruntled (or just plain destructive) Walmart employees gives you plenty of reasons not to buy an iPad from Walmart. If it’s too late and you already purchased your Apple device from America’s largest retailer then this clip might explain why your iPad is glitchy or troubled.

It shows 4 employees horsing around in the warehouse, throwing iPads to one another from great distances, while one talks directly to the camera and explains rather eloquently that this is the reason why you shouldn’t buy your iPad from Walmart. They also deliberately drop the expensive device on the floor and you can hear one shatter as the employee it was hurled at fails to catch it!

Reddit user ‘SeniorPierre’ claims to have been sent the video by someone who works at the store. Needless to say, the quartet in the clip who allegedly worked at the Walmart in Pikeville, Kentucky, have been “fired and prosecuted.”

Wow, this really is stupidity in action. Not only did they film themselves engaging in activities that have the potential to get them sacked a couple of times over, they also flashed the video around. Continue Reading
