Photographic Cake: You’re Doing It Wrong!

usb cake

Check out this gorgeous photographic cake with a wonderful image of a USB stick surrounded by lashings of yummy whipped cream.
Whilst we have to admire the accuracy of the image, the cake wasn’t actually intended for a computer geek who loves USB sticks so much that a loving family member decided to get a picture of one on their birthday cake.

It doesn’t take a genius to work out what actually happened. The photo that was supposed to go on the cake was on the USB stick, but whoever took the order at the bakery might have had one too many chocolate liqueurs that morning and wasn’t really paying attention!
@olivia_solon tweeted a pic of the epic cake fail…It might have been around for awhile, we don’t know, but it’s still pretty funny, so we thought we’d share!! Continue Reading

Awesome Atari 2600 Console Cake!

atari-cake

The Atari 2600 video game consoles was one of the first and most fondly remembered consoles by gamers who like their history or who are old enough to actually remember playing it. I do remember my uncle had one though and being a grubby little child at the time, I was never allowed to go near it, but was permitted to sit in the room whilst others played which I found enthralling and entertaining!

One such fan was Rafael and for his 40th birthday, his loving wife commissioned The Pink Cake Box company to create this fantabulous cake console in honor of his fandom!

Pretty much all that you see here is edible including the console itself, the joysticks and the Pacman and Vanguard game cartridges. The only trouble with a cake like this, is that it looks so good that you are almost don’t want to slice a knife through it and hand it out to your party guests. I suppose that’s what they mean when they say that you can’t have your cake and eat it. Continue Reading

9 Adventure Time Christmas Cookies To Satisfy Your Appetite For Fun

The holiday season couldn’t be what it has become without the labor and tireless slavery of the minions I refer to as Christmas cookies.  As they fight the epic battle against stomach acids in your digestion system and end up buried in your bodacious love handles, they give us all a little bit of joy that we didn’t have before.  They complete me.

These Adventure Time Christmas Cookies should give you some inspiration for your own creations!  Or, if you’re like me and aspire to nothing in life, they serve as another factor enabling you to sit and do absolutely nothing.

Bakingdom Brings Us New Doctor Who Jello in a Jar Recipe

Last week I wrote up an entry on some delicious Doctor Who themed recipes, in case anyone was interested in baking something for the premiere of the seventh series. One recipe I shared was the Fish Finger Cookies and Custard, which was created by the baking web-site Bakingdom. Well it looks like Darla Wireman, the creator and baker of Bakingdom, has whipped up a new Doctor Who-alicious recipe for us to enjoy.

Darla has invented a recipe called Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey Jello in a Jar, and it looks positively scrumptious (not to mention super easy to make). All you really need for this recipe is one 6 ounce package of Berry Blue Jello, lots of different candies, sprinkles, fruit, and anything else you’d like in your jello, and a jar to put it all in. Darla instructs us to prepare the Jello according to the instructions on the box, but then after chilling it in the refrigerator for about an hour to add in all the other ingredients, and then place it back in the fridge for another three hours.

You can find more information and details about this Doctor Who recipe over at Bakingdom, as well as a slew of suggestions to make this recipe even more Timey Wimey.Continue Reading

This is a 500-pound, six-foot seven-inch Darth Vader cake created by Amanda Oakleaf Cakes for the 600 folks attending the 501st Legion Banquet on Friday night as part of the Star Wars Celebration VI event in Orlando, Florida.

With a team of ten at the bakery under the joint-leadership of former Food Network Cake Challenge competitor Amanda Oakleaf, the giant cake took two weeks to make and four months of planning using in total 386 eggs, 57 pounds of butter, 46 pounds of sugar, 2 gallons of milk, 3.5 cups of vanilla, 32 pounds of flour and 210 pounds of marshmallow fondant.

If not for its donation to the Star Wars convention, the Darth Vader cake would have cost $12,000.Continue Reading
