Budding bakers who haven’t quite been able to let go of the love they had for Pokemon as younglings might be interested in this Instructables from h0n3y5un5h1n3. I’ve only recently seen the rather rubbish movie Contagion, so at first her name looked a little some fucked up mutant strain of the swine flu virus H1N1 to me. But on closer inspection it appears to read honeysunshine, a much more appropriate name for some who shares baking recipes! Continue Reading

animated zelda cake Animated Zelda Cake That’s So Impressive It Will Totally Blow Your Mind!!
We feature a lot of incredibly impressive cakes on Buzz Patrol, some are inspired by cult movies or TV shows, others feature infamous comic book characters or gaming heroes and heroines. But I think this animated Zelda cake might just take the biscuit. I would have to say that it is the most impressive themed cake that I have ever seen!

The masterpiece was created by Will Turnbow and his wife for their daughter’s 10th birthday and I think it’s fair to say that she is one incredibly lucky young lady. Continue Reading

Cake Avengers Assemble For One Really Lucky Kid’s Birthday

captain americake Cake Avengers Assemble For One Really Lucky Kid’s Birthday
These supremely awesome Avengers cakes were posted by CakeCentral contributor Vera76, we don’t know if she was the genius responsible for baking them, but we do know they were made for one really lucky child’s birthday party!!

You will instantly recognize which legendary Avengers inspired these geektastic, delicious looking creations, Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk and Thor all turned up to the party. I know there is probably a really good reason for it, but why the hell aren’t Black Widow and Hawkeye there? Maybe they’ve been kidnapped by Loki, who I’m sure is just as evil in cake form as he is in the movies. Um guys? Shouldn’t someone be out looking for them? Continue Reading

Awesome Doctor Who Weeping Angel Tardis Cake

Doctor Who Weeping Angel Cake Awesome Doctor Who Weeping Angel Tardis Cake

This fantabulous Doctor Who cake was created by Yumei at Cake Central and is a chocolate cake with whipped cream and chocolate ganache filling.

Yumei even fitted an LED to the top of the tardis to ensure that it lights up, just like the real thing, though we don’t think it makes a VRORP VRORP noise unfortunately!

I suppose there is no better way to protect such a marvelously detailed creation than with one of those sneaky Weeping Angels, who will no doubt ensure that no one gets too close to the cake before the birthday girl Paige is ready! Continue Reading

Cake’s So Gruesomely Horrible You Won’t Want To Eat Them

The Helpers cake2 Cake’s So Gruesomely Horrible You Won’t Want To Eat Them

Cake artists Miss Cakehead were recently commissioned to play their part in the launch of the horror movie The Helpers by Koch Media.

This involved creating some gruesomely disturbing cakes and cocktails inspired by the 2012 horror movie that sees a group of friends stumble upon a murderous trio in an off-the-beaten-track motel.

There are some incredibly horrible masterpieces in the collection that was made for The Helpers launch, the scarily realistic-looking amputated head probably being the most gruesome of the lot.

Usually, the problem I find with awesomely artistic cake pieces like the numerous Star Wars, LOTR or BTTF ones that I frequently stumble across, is that you feel bad destroying the artwork when it comes round to eating them. Well that won’t be a problem in this case, because these cakes are so entirely gross that they will turn your stomach so much you won’t want to eat them! Continue Reading

Awesome Star Wars TIE Advanced Starfighter Cake From Regali Kitchen

tie1 cake Awesome Star Wars TIE Advanced Starfighter Cake From Regali Kitchen

Check out this totally fantabulous Star Wars TIE Advanced Starfighter cake masterpiece that was created by the cake artists at Regali Kitchen.

This caketastic creation was commissioned by Doc Ciela for the Star Wars-themed 1st birthday party she was hosting for her son Patrick. Something tells me that Ciela might be as big a Star Wars fan (if not bigger) than “her little Jedi”.

The cake was made of dark chocolate (booooo) and covered in a light caramel frosting by Chef JB Cada and Stephanie Santos. The little Stormtrooper toppers were edible too, so any party-goers who align themselves with the Rebel Alliance could have lots of fun biting the heads of the mini agents of the Empire. Exterminate Your Sweet Tooth With This Scarily Realistic Dalek Cake!

Dalek Cake Exterminate Your Sweet Tooth With This Scarily Realistic Dalek Cake!

This incredibly realistic Dalek cake was created by Mike’s Amazing Cakes for the 16th birthday of a very lucky girl named Irene. It is a little bit weird putting the word “exterminate” on a birthday cake, especially if your party attendees are literal folks – before you know it you could have an epically dangerous cake battle on your hands. Take cover and care not to hit grandma with any edible projectiles – trust me, she won’t see the funny side!!

This is another one of those fantastic cake creations that I personally would struggle to destroy, I just wouldn’t want to slice a knife through that artwork. Depends on how much you like cake I guess!

Awesome Zelda Ocarina of Time N64 Cake

zelda cake Awesome Zelda Ocarina of Time N64 Cake

Check out this brilliantly detailed Zelda N64 cake which was created by Tracey of the Black Cherry Cake Company. Yup, that is the same Tracey who was behind the awesomely geeky Back To The Future Wedding Cake that we featured on here a little while ago. It is based on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and also features an edible N64 console, gamepad and cartridge!

This cake is amazingly realistic and I personally would actually feel real bad biting into our courageous hero Link, or what about poor Princess Zelda, who waited all that time to be rescued only to get munched on by someone with a sweet tooth! I guess it’s one of those occasions where the saying “you can’t have your cake and eat it” comes into play!Continue Reading

minas tirith Geek Love: Gorgeous LOTR’s Minas Tritith Wedding Cakes

I’ve seen some awesomely geeky wedding cakes writing for this site, but I think this Minas Tirith wedding cake by Audrey Konyha Vigh might just be the best!

The detail in the piece is just amazing – I can only imagine how much effort went into creating this masterpiece. Looking at it this morning, I was filled with warm fluffy LOTR images of Gandalf and Théoden crusading in to save Faramir and the boys.

Florida-based Vigh bakes all of her fantastic cakes from her home, her dream is to have a small bakery outside of her house. You can see how jam, sponge and other cakey ingredients were miraculously transformed into this beautifully detailed Minas Tirith cake over on Vigh’s Facebook page.

Warning: Looking at this cake will make you want to watch LOTR!
