Fish Farming…Not Quite How It’s Supposed to be Done!

Cattle and sheep farmer Gordon Flinn, 71, was left with 20 tonnes of mackerel on his land last week, after a lorry overturned and spilled its contents into one of his fields, in Country Down, Northern Ireland! The incident must have left him wondering if perhaps he should have gone into fish-farming instead!

The sight of the silver fish, two-feet deep in some places, was certainly an odd one! Flinn’s daughter Louise said it was like ‘something out of the bible’ – as though the slippery creatures had just fallen straight out of the sky and into their field!!

The clean-up operation took about 7 hours, and involved 12 men, a digger and a crane! Luckily the driver involved in the accident wasn’t hurt, and came back from a check-up in hospital to help get the fish off Flinn’s farm!
