Normally sci-fi conventions are quite peaceful affairs with people from numerous different fandoms happily co-existing with one another.

However that is not always the case and sometimes shit can get serious between rival fans! At a sci-fi convention in Norwich, UK, police had to intervene after a brawl was about to break out between Star Wars fans and Doctor Who fans from rival clubs!

More than a dozen fans, including many in cosplay, had to be separated after police were called to the scene and someone reported seeing an assault. Continue Reading

It turns out that Peter Jackson is so eager to direct an episode of the iconic series that he has said that he is willing to do it for free!!! The Jackson/Doctor Who rumor began late last year. Back in September of 2012 Doctor Who star Matt Smith told an NZ newspaper that he’d love to film an episode of the series in New Zealand and it would be great if Peter Jackson would direct. Check out this brilliant picture of a cosplaying Doctor Who family, I’ve always been a fan of group cosplay – I think it’s great when a number of people get together and turn up as pretty much the entire cast of characters from their favorite series, game, comic etc. You can clearly see that Doctor Who dad, Tardis mom and their mini-dalek daughters really put a lot of effort into their wonderful outfits.

They were spotted at Katsucon and the convention’s Tumblr states: “As I asked to take this photo, Dad says “OK girls, point your plungers” and they promptly looked at me and said the keyword to my heart … EX-TER-MI-NATE!”

Daaaaaw, these brightly colored Dalek girls are certainly the cutest, least menacing Dalek’s that I’ve ever come across, I still wouldn’t mess with those plungers though!

For Doctor Who fans in their 30s, their favorite doctor will always be the fourth one, who was portrayed by Tom Baker – because as well as doing a damn great job at playing our time-travelling world savior, Baker is also the Doctor Who that is remembered fondly from childhood.

One of the fourth doctor’s famous features was his fabulously long scarf – so Alex, a huge fan, decided to knit himself one…He might have taken things a little bit too far though, as Alex’s scarf dwarves anything worn by the good doctor – measuring a whopping 28-feet and 1 inch!!

With a scarf that big, I suppose it’s a damn good job that the Tardis is bigger on the inside – you’d never get the dang thing to fit otherwise!! Continue Reading
