A Taiwanese teenager has passed away after spending 40 hours at an internet café without eating or sleeping, he was playing a marathon session of the popular online video game Diablo III.

Local newspapers have named the 18-year old as Chuang (just his surname) and they reported that he booked himself into a private room at an internet café on Friday afternoon.

On Sunday morning an employee of the café went in to check on Chuang and found him slumped at the desk, he then woke up, took a few steps and then collapsed. He was rushed to hospital but tragically the teenager died not long after his arrival.

Until a post-mortem is carried out the exact cause of death remains unknown, however medical experts believe that he may have suffered from a blood clot or a cardiac arrest as a result of being sat down and largely inactive for such a long period of time.
