When the naked and crazed Rudy Eugene, 31, attacked homeless man Ronald Poppo on Miami’s MacArthur Causeway and in a frenzied assault chewed the majority of his face off, the world gasped with shock and disgust. The disgusting, gory details of the incident, the brutality of the assault and the fact that Eugene had to be shot several times by police officer Jose Rivera to stop him led several people to believe that the man must have been under the influence of some sort of powerful drug.
Officers working on Eugene’s case strongly believe that he had taken the new synthetic hallucinogenic drug, which is known on the street as ‘bath salts’.
