A professor at Sweden’s prestigious Karolinska Institute is being held on suspicion of attempted murder for reportedly cutting off his wife’s lips and eating them.

Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reported:

“He cut off her lips and ate them. He doesn’t seem to regret anything. He thinks she is the one who has offended him. He didn’t want the lips to be able to be sewn back on, that was why he had eaten them.”

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the professor whose name was not given, had recently begun to suspect that his wife was having an affair and had allegedly decided to punish her by disfiguring her.
