Michelle McKee & Her Involvement In Anonymous’ Anti-Rape Operations

anonymouswoman
Mother Jones writer Josh Harkinson recently wrote a fascinating article that details how Michelle McKee, a 51-year-old woman who herself had been the victim of sexual abuse, inspired the hacktivist collective Anonymous to start an anti-rape drive and seek out justice for victims.

The collective, normally better known for going after authority figures who they feel have betrayed the public, seeking justice for other activists like the late Aaron Swartz or going after big corporations are now becoming known for the anti-rape rallies and for the work they do to make sure perpetrators of rape are prosecuted for their heinous crimes. So of course, they have had something to say about the terrible explosions that took place at the Boston Marathon on Monday, claiming as usual, that they would picket the funerals of those who lost their lives. Continue Reading

Burger King Twitter Account Hacked, Avatar & Name Changed To McDonald’s

burger-king-hacked
Fast food chain Burger King appeared to have had their Twitter account hacked today, as pranksters changed their avatar and name to that of their close competitors in the business of burgers, McDonald’s. They changed the branding feature McDonald’s fish nuggets prominently and said that Burger King had just been sold to McDonald’s because the “whopper flopped.”

The hackers also sent a series of dodgy and offensive tweets, with some claiming that employees were caught taking class A drugs in the restaurant toilets. We do not yet have details about whether it was an outside hack or a really disgruntled employee with account access trying to get his own back. The official Twitter account also pointed to a missing press release that was seemingly placed on the Burger King official website, which suggests the hack was a comprehensive one. Some reports are suggesting that it might be the work of underground hacktivists Anonymous and is called #OPMadCow. Burger King has yet to issue an official comment on the incident. Continue Reading
