Subsix in the Maldives is the world’s first underwater music club, it is located 500 meters from the shore and is only accessible by boat.
The club is submerged 6 meters deep in the balmy waters of the Indian Ocean and the floor to ceiling glass walls on 3 sides of the club offer some absolutely breathtaking views of the exotic marine life. The bar and DJ decks are located along the back wall allowing clubbers to enjoy the music and the picturesque views.
It was constructed on land and then submerged into the ocean once complete.
Above the club is the high class Edge restaurant, serving authentic dishes inspired by cuisine from the surrounding areas.
Both places belong to the Niyama Resort, a Per AQUUM resort. Neil Palmer, CEO of Per AQUUM said: “In keeping with Per AQUUM’s continual ‘world firsts’, the launch of Subsix and Edge emphasizes our commitment to break boundaries, design icons and embrace imagination to create reality.”

I’ve been to dozens of open air clubs that are located on the shore, with dazzling views of the ocean, beaches and the night sky, they really do have an energy that is completely different to your average club in a basement or building. I can only imagine what the experience of being completely underwater at Subsix must be like, I bet it is totally amazing. Hopefully the Dj’s there play some rock’n’roll though, I can’t stand dance music!!
Also really wouldn’t wanna be there if the place sprung a leak…
