“Dough Portraits” is the work of Danish artist Søren Dahlgaard, where posers from Denmark, Kosovo and the Maldives were invited to play with and mold the dough before placing it on their heads. The result is an innovative take on the traditional self-portrait.
Dahlgaard explains why he uses dough: “Dough and bread are universal. They are things we can all relate to. We know how it is made, how it feels to touch it, but when it appears in art, it can be difficult to place. It wakes people’s curiosity.”
