Check out this totally awesome custom made electric guitar that was created by UK-based artist Rob Smith using hard lime, maple and rosewood. A budding rock star sporting this unique design would certainly stand out from the crowd!
It took Smith 150 – 200 hours of work to create this beautifully detailed design and the intricate line-work reminds me a little of Aliens artist HR Giger.
Smith is a self trained woodcarver and box maker and you can see some more of his fabulous designs over on his Facebook page. He accepts commissions and is willing to discuss designs with his customers to suit their needs.
He is also keen to minimize timber waste and ensures that almost all of the wood he uses is recycled. Even his “new” timber comes trees that had to be felled because of disease or developments and he offers his customers information about the material and its origins.
