Russian Business Man Fakes His Own Death Before Proposing To Girlfriend

If you want proof that romance really is dead then you need to look no further than this story about a wealthy Russian Businessman who faked his own death to test his girlfriend’s feelings for him before proposing. WTF!!

30-year-old Alexey Bykov of Omsk went to a whole heap of effort to pull of the feat; he hired a stuntman, make-up artist, screenwriter and a director to help him stage the car crash where he was supposed to meet his untimely and tragic death. He had previously arranged for his stunning girlfriend Irina Kolokov to meet him at the point of the accident and when she arrived she witnessed the brutal scene.

Kolokov told the Russian media that when she got to the place where they were supposed to meet; “there were mangled cars everywhere, ambulances, smoke and carnage. Then when I saw Alexey covered in blood lying in the road a paramedic told me he was dead and I just broke down in tears.”

Apparently, this was exactly the reaction that he was after and like a zombie movie extra covered in fake blood, he rose from the ground, embraced his shocked lover and made his proposal. As if he didn’t have enough stupid for the both of them, she proved to have her own share by choosing to accept his proposal despite the entirely disturbing way in which he delivered it.

The crazy stunt did annoy her somewhat however, because she told the Russian media that she did contemplate killing him “for real this time” to get him back for putting her emotions through the ringer like that, but she can’t have been that angry because she still agreed to marry the guy!

Bykov said: “I wanted her to realize how empty her life would be without me and how life would have no meaning without me…I think it worked but I promise it’s the last time.” Oh well, if that’s the last time, then that’s ok then…

I mean I know that getting down on one knee at an expensive restaurant is boring and cliché, but really? Faking your own death in a car accident is a little bit extreme, don’t cha think?

Another thing worth remembering, as was pointed out by many of the people who read and commented on the story, the fact that she cried because she thought her lover had met his end in a horrible and bloody car accident doesn’t really prove much at all. Most normal people would be moved to tears if that fate had befallen a lover they weren’t that serious about, a friend or even an acquaintance. It’s hardly proof that she wasn’t just after him because he bought her expensive clothes and designer shoes – but hey, who am I to judge.
