Check out these awesome works by Brazilian street artist Andre Muniz Gonzaga, who is well known for creating works of art in the most unusual of places. His rock portraits are amongst his most renowned collections and it is easy to see why. Gonzaga chooses his locations well, often picking urban areas that are poverty stricken or run down. They are the kind of places where you wouldn’t expect to see flamboyant art installations and Gonzaga’s anthropomorphic rockfaces clearly brighten up the area and bring with them a bit of magic and creativity.
Gonzaga cleverly uses the existing contours and structure of his real-life canvases to become the facial structures of his work; jutting edges become lips, a central ridge becomes a nose, slight indents become eyes.
It is really easy to see why Gonzaga’s rock portraits stand out and draw attention, they are fantastic examples of awesome street art.
