Rahel Eckardt of the Evangelical Geriatrics Center in Germany has developed a special suit that enables the wearer to experience what the physical limitations of an elderly person.

The Age Man Suit weighs 22-pounds, has ear flaps to muffle sound, a visor that obscures vision, padded gloves that dull the sense of touch and knee and elbow pads to restrict joint movements.

Eckardt and the team of researchers that created the suit are hoping that the experience of wearing the suit will encourage more empathy from doctors or other medical employees who have to administer an increasing amount of geriatric care as the average human lifespan continues to increase.

Wearing the suit and experiencing what it feels like to be a 75-year old may also help doctors and physicians to come up with new and innovative treatments for difficulties experienced by the elderly.
