Ransom and Mitchell’s eagerly awaited Smoke & Mirrors show will open on Saturday 8th September at Varnish Fine Art in San Francisco and run through until Saturday 27th October.
Smoke & Mirrors is the debut solo show from artistic duo Jason Mitchell and Stacy Ransom who run Purebred Studio and are experienced in directing, photography, set design and photo illustration to name but a few.
The exhibition consists of a number of fine art photographic portraits and scenarios where they try to capture the “narrative in nature” and allude to the “darker undercurrents that exists within all aspects of society.”
The Varnish Fine Art blog features an interview with Ransom & Mitchell, of Smoke & Mirrors it states:
“They aim to create worlds that cannot exist, through a unique combination of cinematic lighting, theatrically designed sets and an illustrative approach that is inspired by the Italian and Dutch Master painters. Their meticulous mind-set and skills were honed in their years of working on motion picture films and they still often create short films to accompany their photo works.”
