Wouldn’t it be an absolutely wonderful occurrence if LOTR heroic director Peter Jackson took the time out of his Tolkien orientated schedule and directed an episode of the fantastic Doctor Who?
This might sound like merely a pipedream but the celebrity rumor-mill has churned out some interesting Doctor Who and Peter Jackson related news which suggests it could actually become a reality.
It all started with Doctor Who star Matt Smith and the recent interview he gave to the Waikato Times in New Zealand. Smith said:
“I think it would be an absolutely wonderful place to film Doctor Who. I’m told it’s glorious. I’m told it’s quite similar to England. Let’s get Peter Jackson to direct one and go and make it in New Zealand. I would love to, I will campaign endlessly to come over and film there. There’s clearly a great film industry out there. It’s something I would be very interested in, it’s just whether we can persuade the producers to fly us all over.”
Kudos to the newspaper, who knew straight away that they were onto a good thing and chased up Peter Jackson to see what he thought about Smith’s statement! Jackson responded with the words we all want to hear, saying:
“I’m a huge Doctor Who fan, and I think Matt’s fantastic. Just name a time and place, and I’ll be there!”
Come on BBC, sort it out, getting legendary director Peter Jackson to direct an episode of Doctor Who would be a totally awesome way to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the cult show!
