Customized R2D2 Coffee Maker You Can Make Yourself

This coffee machine would make just about Star Wars fan a happy geek.

A Star Wars fan slash coffee lover by the online username of “inthebathroom” has posted some do-it-yourself instructions on how to make your own customized R2D2 coffee maker on Instructables.

He calls his creation the R2D2 – Dark Roast Edition, and says:

In my world, Darth Vader doesn’t go all soft in the end. Instead of taking off Luke Skywalkers [sic] hand he takes off his head, the rebel alliance is quashed, ewoks are served up crispy fried on a stick and Darth takes R2D2 as his trophy trinket, turning him into his morning caffeine delivery device. AKA R2D2 Dark Roast Edition.

While you might not necessarily agree with that Sith-like line of thinking, if the idea of having your coffee brewed for you by one of the most beloved droids of all time is appealing, and you want your very own Star Wars inspired coffee pot featuring the famous icon, you can make one yourself with some brass, cooper, assorted parts and a little ingenuity following the instructional posted on the site.Continue Reading

Pam Shaw, also known under her stage name as The Sexational Pam, is a cabaret star who has performed alongside such legends as Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck.

She was so busy pursuing her career, which consisted primarily of singing on stage, but also included acting, that she never found time for a relationship. You could call her the true career oriented woman, always putting her work success first. She’s never been married and never had kids.

She’s also never lost her virginity, because despite her sexy stage persona, Miss Shaw does not believe in sex before or outside of marriage.

“I’ve always had a very strong work ethic and finding romance always came below getting ahead in my career.” She said, “I wouldn’t have entertained the idea of sex outside of marriage, and marriage meant giving up on my dreams.”

It must have been a strange sight for Mexican police to see a couple of grown-ups having a heated row over a teddy bear. I mean, you wouldn’t think twice if it was a couple of kids fighting over a stuffed toy, but when it is a 29 year-old woman and a 39 year-old man, it is plain to see that something is not quite right with this picture.

Intrigued police in Juárez, though probably bemused by the goings on, were drawn to intervene in the row between Efraín Vera Chávez, and Edith Ortiz Sandoval because it was getting rather intense. They spoke to the couple, with Edith claiming that the teddy bear belonged to her and that her boyfriend was jealous because someone else had gifted it to her.

Mediating between the pair, police initially convinced him to return the bear to his girlfriend. However one of the officers noticed a suspicious looking hole on the stuffed toy and gave it an inspection. The real reason the couple were arguing about a teddy bear then became all too apparent, after officers discovered nearly 250 aluminum packages crammed with heroin! I think it is safe to say that these guys are not in the running to win any criminal mastermind awards!

The couple was arrested and the case has now been handed to federal prosecutors. Continue Reading

With confectioners, florists, card & gift stores profiting hugely from this particular holiday, many have been saying for years that the principle and sentiment behind the actual day has been usurped by consumerism. Critics claim that it has just another hyped day during which the retail industry exploits customers by hiking up their prices!

According to Kirsten Salyer, the Bloomberg’s social media editor, if the woman who actually invented the day could see what it had become – she would be livid!

In the 1900s, Anna M. Jarvis, campaigned for the creation of an official national holiday, inspired to do so by her own mother who had been responsible for organizing ‘Mother’s Friendship Days’ during the Civil War. Project Prevention, a non-profit group which focuses on trying to prevent addicts from bringing children into the world which they either cannot care for and abandon or which are born already bearing their parents addictions, is now offering addicts money to agree to be sterilized.

Project Prevention offer $300 to addicts who agree to sterilization or long term birth control, concentrating primarily on women, but not exclusively, their website states: “Project Prevention seeks to reduce the burden of this social problem on taxpayers, trim down social worker caseloads, and alleviate from our clients the burden of having children that will potentially be taken away.”
In order to qualify for the program, clients can either show that they have been arrested for drug or alcohol use, or provide a doctors letter stating that they are addicted. Continue Reading

When Apple bought out the iPod, they really did revolutionize the way we listened to music and there are a lot of people out there who are incredibly attached to their iPods, but I think this guy might top the list!

Check out Dave Hurban, who loved his iPod Nano so much that he went to the trouble of having four holes drilled into his wrist and had magnets inserted into them. All so he could listen to his iPod Nano without having to faff around with the watch strap thingy.

I’ve been looking for some sort of attaching device so that I can listen to my iPhone in the gym, something that ensures that it’s not going to fly off and go bouncing off the treadmill whilst at the same time isn’t going to irritate me while I’m busy getting sweaty. Maybe this is the answer, although the drilling the flesh side of things is kinda putting me off a little!
