Digital Art Director Dhani Sutanto was getting fed up swiping his Oyster card through the reader like millions of other Londoners each day, so he decided to get a little bit creative with the whole thing.
He tinkered around with the card to create something that is a slightly more fashionable way to get in and out of the sensors.
Unsurprisingly Sutanto discovered there was a YouTube tutorial that showed him exactly how to break open an Oyster card and remove the chip and antenna to use in a fashionable device.
Anyone who is thinking of doing this however should make a note of two things, firstly that it is illegal (wow really? Why?) Secondly, that the method used by Sutanto only works with the older style Oyster cards, the newer ones are made with a different kind of material.
Sutanto admits that his first prototype is not the most attractive looking ring in the world and is none too pleased with the fact that he has to take it off in order to get it to swipe through, however it is his first attempt and he seems convinced that it will turn out better the next time.
Personally I still think the best Oyster card modification was done by the guy traveling around London in a full wizards outfit and had put the chip into his magic wand! I want one of those!!
