Normally it is the domestic cat that will come out on top in a battle with a bird, but as you can see in this astonishing picture, this cat has definitely lost the fight as it is carried up into the air by a bold and fearless owl!
This picture was taken in Minnesota and nature experts say that the owl, which is known for its distinctive call, would have repeatedly dropped its oversized and clawed prey from high up in an attempt to stun it into submission, after which it will devour it!
It’s nothing like the loving relationship described between the Owl and the Pussycat in the Edward Lear poem that’s for sure!!
It is believed that the owl in this picture is a Hoot Owl, which can reach up to 25 inches in height and has a maximum wingspan of 50 inches. Owl’s have amazing strength and are able to take on prey that weighs much more than they do!
