Old School Halloween: Eerie Pics From Nearly A Century Ago!

Check out these awesomely creepy pictures of people in their Halloween costumes from the ‘olden days’. They are taken from artist/musician Ossian Brown’s 2010 book “Haunted Air” which is a collection of Halloween photos that were taken between the years of 1875 and 1955 – meaning that some of them are more than 100 years old!!!

Some of these are totally spine-chilling and though our modern day costumes might be slightly cooler, more flamboyant and come with inbuilt flame-throwers, these pictures definitely prove that our ancestors also had what it takes to give us the heebie-jeebies!

I was particularly spooked by the photograph of the 3 children sat around a crystal ball, they look like they are about to dive headfirst into some seriously occult business. I also found the one of the woman with the odd pigtails slightly disturbing, partly because I can’t tell if that is an actual child she is holding in her arms or one of those horribly creepy porcelain dolls! I think it’s a doll, because of the straightness of the legs, but who’s to say it isn’t her demon spawn in a weird outfit!!

Which ones spooked you the most?
