As the Sundance Film Festival premiere of the Steve Jobs biopic jOBS edges ever closer, two new photographs have been released from the set which show Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs and also offers us our first glimpse of Josh Gad playing the role of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
There is no doubt that Kutcher bears a striking resemblance to Jobs in many of the photographs captured from the set of the movie so far, however many Jobs worshippers have questioned whether he will be able to pull off an accurate portrayal of the inspirational genius. According to co-star Gad though, Kutcher was the “perfect fit” for the role.
In an interview with USA Today, Gad said there was an “eerie resemblance” between Kutcher and Jobs, adding “When he showed up, it sent a ripple of shock throughout the set. Everyone was like, ‘We’re in the presence of Jobs. Let’s go do this.’ It was literally like being in the room with the creator of Apple.”
Describing the jOBS biopic which was directed by Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote), Gad said in a way, the movie was a “love story” between Jobs and Wozniak and their tumultuous journey making Apple the superpower that it is today.
Gad said: “The combination of Jobs’ ambition and design and Woz’s technical genius provided us with one of the most revolutionary tools ever created — the personal computer.”
The film also stars Ahna O’Reilly as Jobs’ girlfriend Chris-Ann Brennan, Dermot Mulroney as former Apple CEO Mike Markkula, Matthew Modine as former Apple CEO John Sculley, Lukas Haas as Apple employee Daniel Kottke and James Woods as Jack Dudman.
After premiering at Sundance, jOBS is expected to go on general release in April of 2013.
