A new photograph of George Zimmerman that was taken by a police officer on the night that he killed the teenager Trayvon Martin has been released to his defense.
Initially, the State provided a blurry, black and white photocopy of this image to his legal team, but now they have been given the full color, high-resolution digital image. The digital file was handed over to Zimmerman’s defense on October 29th, 2012 and was disclosed in the State’s 9th Supplemental Discovery.
On the night of February 26th 2012, George Zimmerman shot black teenager Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida. Zimmerman claims he shot Martin in self defense, however the incident has caused much tension and unrest as a large portion of the black community in the U.S. believe that it was a racially motivation murder. Zimmerman is currently awaiting trial on charges of second-degree murder.
