From this picture taken by the NASA rover Curiosity it seems there is a shiny thing on Mars! But before you get all excited thinking that it is finally the proof we’ve been looking for the jewelry-making aliens live on the red planet, we should warn you that it might just be a bit of hardware that broke off the Curiosity itself.

Ahhhhh man, I was all hyped up and everything (ahem *blatant lies*).

The image is from Curiosity’s right Mast Camera (Mastcam) and shows the first scoop of soil retrieved by the impressive rover. However those masterminds at NASA spotted the barely visible, little shiny thing in the foreground of the picture and have said that they will be giving it a thorough examination… Dang, I wondered where my nosering disappeared too.

NASA has said that there is a big possibility that the shiny thing might just be a bit of Curiosity’s own hardware that has broken off, but they won’t be leaving anything to chance. So maybe we will find out a little bit about those jewelry-making aliens after all!
