Venus beats Serena
I was out on Saturday partying and forgot all about the women Wimbledon final 2008.
So here is the result, a day late…..
Well, the Williams sisters were playing in the final again yesterday July 5.
This time, Venus Williams came out top beating her sister 7-5 6-4 on centre court after having lost five Grand Slam titles to Serena.
The women Wimbledon Champion said:
“First I have to say great match to Serena. When you are in a final with Serena, five seems so far away from that first point. Five titles, that’s the first thing that popped into my head. I can’t believe it’s five. Five is monumental. I would have been disappointed at not being able to make history. I think the level of play was really high. We had some really competitive rallies and intense points. We were both very powerful. She played so awesome it was a real task to beat her. I was pretty excited because the match was so close. But I’m more into what my sister is feeling. One of us has to win and one to lose so I’m not that excited because my sister just lost. My first job is as big sister. I take that very seriously.”
The Williams sisters also won the women double…
Congrats to the both of you….
