According to this infographic the majority of people just aren’t as smart as they think they are, with a minuscule amount getting the really high scores in IQ tests. Only 2.5% of the world’s population is considered to be in the “very superior intelligence” bracket scoring 130 or over. That number is even smaller for those considered to be at genius or near genius with scores of 140 or over, with only 0.5% of people hitting the mark.
Also on the infographic are the 10 smartest geeks around today, giving you all the geeky info you always wanted to know about them including their many achievements and their IQ number.
Interestingly one of the most recognizable names on the list, Stephen Hawking, has one of the lowest IQ’s of those cited. Hawking, who is responsible for helping us to understand our universe has an IQ of just 160. It’s pretty damn high compared to your average Joe, but still one of the lowest listed!
The infograph also contained some other names that might surprise you including television writer Rick Rosner, who has an IQ of an impressive 192 and actor James Woods who is pretty damn smart with an IQ of 180. Apparently Woods’ enrolled in Linear Algebra and UCLA whilst still in high school and accepted a full scholarship at MIT before deciding he wanted to become an actor and dropping out of college. I bet his parents were really pleased about that, but you can’t really blame the guy, it’s not like he didn’t do well as an actor!
