Math Enthusiasts & Bakers Celebrate Pi Day!

pi11
March 14th is a happy day for Math enthusiasts, bakers and lovers of both, for it is on this day that they celebrate the wonder of Pi. For those of you who don’t know, (and haven’t already worked it out) the reason Pi day is celebrated on March 14th each year is because Pi=3.141592, but if you take the first three digits that’s 3.14, basically March 14th in calendar terms (and also the room where the Initiative built Adam in Buffy The Vampire Slayer – but I guess that really isn’t relevant here).

Because Pi is also a delicious, pastry dish (although spelt differently) many bakers and pastry dish aficionadas have also joined in on the act, creating delicious Pi inspired pies for us all to enjoy.

‘Who ate all the pies?’ I hear you ask, well today, that would have to be the math geeks!

Unfortunately however Pi day has not yet been recognized as a national holiday, so those of us with jobs are forced to pay homage to the great 3.141592 in our lunch-breaks and downtime.

Did you bake a Pi pie today, or do something else to celebrate? Leave a comment and let us know.
