New Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer Promises Every Yahoo Employee A New Smartphone!

Marissa Mayer, the new Yahoo CEO has got herself some major kudos from the company’s employees, by promising every single one of them a new smartphone as part of a program called “Yahoo! Smart Phones, Smart Fun.”

Employees will get to choose from the new iPhone 5, Samsung, Nokia or HTC smartphones and it gets even better, Yahoo has also agreed to pay its employees data and phone bills too.
Bad news for Blackberry though, they have been dropped as the corporate phone and Yahoo said that it will discontinue IT support for them.

According to sources within the company, the program has made the employees happy and has seriously boosted morale. It is expected to cost the company millions of dollars, which sounds a lot to you or me, but for a company like Yahoo, who are worth billions, it is hardly going to break the bank.

It is said that the reason behind the decision to give the employees the best phones on the market is because Yahoo want their employees to have the same devices that their users have.
A Yahoo source said: “We’d like our employees to have devices similar to our users, so we can think and work as the majority of our users do.”

They have already started taking orders, with employees able to choose from the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X, HTC EVO 4G LTE, Nokia Lumia 920 and the Windows 8 Phone.

A smart move indeed as a happy and well informed work force is undoubtedly a more productive one.

We have a very exciting update to share with you today – we are announcing Yahoo! Smart Phones, Smart Fun! As of today, Yahoo is moving off of blackberries as our corporate phones and on to smartphones in 22 countries. A few weeks ago, we said that we would look into smartphone penetration rates globally and take those rates into account when deciding on corporate phones.

Ideally, we’d like our employees to have devices similar to our users, so we can think and work as the majority of our users do.

Moving forward, we’ll offer you a choice of devices as well as provide monthly plans for the data and phone.
